This isn't my pipe, but I'll store that compliment away for a rainy day when I need one.

Re: bent dublin

Personally, I don't see any issue with your bottom line. I agree with Walt, though that you could do with a bit of a chamfer on the rim/bowl. Nice looking pipe.

Do you mean stain instead of paint? Also, I'm not sure what double staining is. But most guys here probably use Fiebing's leather dye.

nd also got them from Steve when he dealt with him on the condition that the proceeds would go to paying off the people he ripped off first (Pipemakers Emporium was one them if remember right, for a bunch of money!), and then Yazid would get paid the balance. Cool of Steve to do that! I hadn't hear...

Re: Dunhill 1954 patent Tanshell shape 475 re-stem and refinish

t turns out there's a lot of one-upmanship in the Japanese collecting world (Lee's main fanbase), and guys are willing to pay significantly more for pipes they could watch being made and recorded as a notebook of screenshots. No kidding? Doesn't even have to show a little leg or dance around either...

Re: Dunhill 1954 patent Tanshell shape 475 re-stem and refinish

You are some kind of skilled. You should set up a live video one day when you start a repair and just let it roll. I'd pop a bag of popcorn and grab a beer for the show.

Re: Airway off center left to right

I am trying to visualize a 1/100” deviation and why you are distressed about it. I am pleased not to leave a significant dead space (1/2-1mm-0.02-0.04”) under the draft and to be within 1 mm (0.04”) of dead center laterally. I don’t think that you need better accuracy for smoking purposes. As I am ...

Well then...you're not holding your mouth right.

Re: Airway off center left to right

Squaring the block may a huge difference in securing the block in the jaws. Definitely do that before chucking it in the lathe. Also, make sure you are going slow and not applying too much pressure when drilling, and clear the chips as you go.

Walt...I want to see a cartoon movie of your thought process. Like one of those old school, black and white, fantasia'esque style cartoons. And, while I've never done drugs, I think this will be best viewed while consuming drugs. John Michael, I am not clear on your thought process. Did you read th...

I'd say just polish the inside of the slot. Too well done of a pipe not to finish something like that. Nice work, these aren't easy.

Re: Classic English Billiard...

I like it. I imagine a mad chemist pouring chemicals from test tube to test tube. A tattered and stained lab coat. The center tube fills with smoke as his mind wastes away. If you ever smoked this, I'd be curious to see how yellow that tube got! I did smoke it a few times and then gave it away as a...

Re: Classic English Billiard...

Okay, okay, funnies aside, some real comments. I would like to see this design streamlined, meaning, get rid of the extra step-down on the stummel side and the accent ring on the stem side. Make the briar, tube and stem all on the same level. Still with the tenons to fit the rubbing over. Also, I t...

Re: Classic English Billiard...

In all seriousness, and an attempt to work on my "eye" for shapes... What bothers me is that the fairly traditional, and organic, shapes of the bowl and stem are interrupted with a straight-ass piece of tube. Were the tubing shaped in a more blended way, and without the accent ring etcete...
