Ok, I have the pic sizes under control. I'm still educating myself on my photo software (PhotoShop Elements 9). Everything in there including the kitchen sink.
Thanks for the size info Rad.
Spacing between pics was a no-brainer. Put a space(s) between the image links in the message box. Duh.

Re: Fresh meat! Nautilus nose warmer and a variation
Whoa! I did not intend to post such monster size pics. Any tips on making them smaller would be appreciated.
Also, how do you put breaks in between them? These are run together.

Fresh meat! Nautilus nose warmer and a variation
My first and second pipes for your critique. The shape of the nautilus nose warmer is based on the logarithmic "golden spiral". Admittedly a bit of an oddball but what the hell? In order to make all the drilling come out right the chamber is angled back about 15 degrees from the top plane....

Re: Acrylic vs Ebonite
Drilling acrylic is quite easy if you follow a few basic rules. 1. Do NOT use metal working bits. Any supplier of acrylic sheet or rod stock will carry drill bits specially ground for acrylic or similar hard plastic. They will be more pointed (90 degree or less included angle instead of 118 degrees ...

bending stems
Has anyone ever tried using a hot sand (glass beads or salt actually) bed to heat a stem for bending?
This is what a lot of eyeglass shops use to heat plastic frames for adjustment.
One would think that it would be a lot less problematic than using heat guns or open flames.

Re: Delrin on Delrin
And I would surely have to counter with "why not"? I love to take the paths less taken. If I fall in a gulch then I will not go down that path again. If no one ever tried something different where would we all be? I am quite familiar with Delrin. I work with plastics every day and I used t...

Re: Delrin on Delrin
What was the diameter of your tenon? I'm going with 5/16 and if I have room I may bump it up to 3/8.
The larger the diameter the stiffer the rod. (Oh boy, here we go with that comment!)

Delrin on Delrin
Many words have been written here about the usage of Delrin both pro and con. It appears you either love it or hate it. If my question has been touched upon in the past I apologize (blame the new guy) and perhaps someone could direct me to the thread. If it is a new subject then dive in everyone. I'...
Re: Designing
Perhaps plagiarism was too strong a word. I like potholer's comment about interpreting and copying being established artistic precedents and JHowell's on making beautiful things rather than being original. I'm a firm believer in giving credit where credit is due and as an example I'm working one a p...
Designing
Hello all. I'm new to this board and I'll apologize in advance if I'm broaching a subject already covered. I've been in and out of pipe making a couple of times over the years and I'm jumping back in to hopefully stay. I need the "therapy". Here's my subject: from a technical standpoint I ...
