I like the pipe overall. What bothers me is the shank is totally straight. It looks like a straight pipe with a backwards cant, rather than a bent pipe. The shank needs some curve on top and bottom.

Re: Clear Acrylic rod stock
I purchased some from Mcmastercarr. It supposedly lexan polycarbonate. It machines and works like acrylic, only it is a harder material. I may make another stem from it soon.

Norm. If you increase the angle on the bottom of the pipe just a touch it will probably sit quite nicely.

Re: Pipe Turd for your Perusal
overall it looks pretty good. I would take the time to blast it and you will have a decent pipe for yourself. If you blast it, I would taper the top of the bowl a bit more if you are looking for more of a billiard than a tall pot, although it may make the top of the bowl extremely thin. If you blast...

Its really hard to have a civil dissagreement here because no one likes to lose, but we all come back to shit in the same sandbox. Pipemakers are such a small percent of the population, we should all try to let things slide a little.

I didn't know he had the market cornered on 50's style pipes. Instead of trying to insult people or just being a troll on a forum maybe you should find something more constructive to do with your spare time. Uh oh, a grumpy one. You don't actually read this board much, do you? lol at ...

Re: pipe 019 - critique me
There are a few things I would change about this pipe. The chin on the bottom of the bowl was taken in too far. It should be a smooth rounded curve. Looking at the bowl from the front, the shape should be more like an apple. A smooth graceful curve that is symmetrical. The bottom of the bowl is extr...

Re: Rad has apparently retired
This is really very sad. He was one of the working class pipemaker that truly loved what he did. His value to price ratio was untouched by all but a few pipemaker. Unfortunately I will probably never have a chance to meet him. I have used his work ethic as a blueprint and proof that making a living ...

Ah. The Geezer Fuddy Duddy Factor. I should have thought of that. (There's a circular error in there somewhere, though.) OK, never mind. That was indeed a baller pic, Bro Hube. (See how fast I adapt?) Carry on. Yo. Bro Hube! Nice George. Now you just need a beard and the transition is complete.

Re: Sanding/buffing of stem: microscratching
When you heat a stem unseen scratches will come to the surface. I get a better finish by sanding very well up to 600, then quickly with 800 1000 and 1500. very brief sanding with those three grits.

Chicago table
Would anyone out there have Room at their table, say maybe for 6 mediocre pipes and a skinny pipemaker? Obviously I would be willing to pay for my half and promise to wash at least the day before.
