Re: pin gauge set on sale
This set is great for bamboo and other small tasks. For those that buy one at a time, you're better at drilling than I am. I have two sets, this one and the .251-.500 set. I use them all the time, and I've proably used 50 from the bigger set, and 20+ from the set in the link. As for metric -v- engl...
Re: PITH 2015
I suggest we go back to basics for this one. How about anything in the Billiard family i.e., Billiard, Canadian, Lovat, etc... Or, if you want to add flexibility we could allow a bent Billiard. Todd (If you really want to get creative we could figure out how to make a bent Canadian and call it Sasqu...

Re: Osage Orange Bowl
That is a beautiful bowl.
I have used it before, but found it hard as a rock when dried, but the color is wonderful.
It always makes me think of a sun set.
What finish did you use?

So a 9mm filter is not 9mm in diameter?jogilli wrote:agree with carl.. just make a plug... 8.5mm diameter drilled hole will take a 9mm filter... and drilled to a 35-36mm length

9mm Filter?
I have a customer that wants a pipe designed to accept a 9mm filter.
All the local drug store sells is the standard 6mm size.
Does anyone have a 9mm filter that they would be willing to send me?
I would be willing to trade some tobacco samples.
Thanks,
Todd

I'm no expert on band saws but I do know that the proper blade will make a world of difference. For rough cutting Briar blocks you want 3-4 teeth per inch and a good quality blade. Check out this one: http://www.woodcraft.com/Product/829912/Timber-Wolf-Bandsaw-Blade-142-x-12-x-4-TPI-Positive-Claw.as...

Re: Do the prices of other pipe makers bother you?
This is a great thread, but I think there is one strategy that has not really been addressed. Know who your customer is (or who you want your customer to be) and make pipes for him/her. I was having a discussion about pricing with Tim West one day and I was commenting that his prices seem low compar...

Oom Pauls.
I always thought they were ugly as hell until I discovered they are the most comfortable pipes to smoke if you are a clencher.
Who knew?

Is there a good way to keep Copper from tarnishing?caskwith wrote:brass or bronze, I like bronze personally, doesn't tarnish as quick.
A light coat of thin CA glue maybe?

Thanks Premal, for all that you do for the pipe making community.
As Nate so eloquently put it, you do, indeed, "Rock".

Re: Columbus show...
Does anyone know if the venue is dog friendly? I may need to bring my well behaved, friendly, lovable, etc. boy Oliver. We had to put down his twelve year old brother a week ago today, and coming from Kalamazoo MI, we don't want to leave him alone for extended periods yet. He (and we) is (are) stil...

Or you could leave it like it is and let it darken naturally over time as you smoke it.

Re: Share a table in Columbus?
Nick,
Thanks for the offer, but when I got no response early on I decided not to make pipes at a break neck pace since there was nothing available.
I won't have enough pipes to make a showing.
I will be there though.
