Re: PITH 2018!!!!
What stem material are we using,or is it open It should be kept traditional, ie. ebonite/vulcanite, acrylic and its variants, juma. No wooden stems or anything too unusual. I'm going to say no stems made of bakelite, briar, or horn as there are inherent issues with these materials for stems that on...

Re: Recommendations for belt sander.
The timing of this post couldn't be any better. My small grizzly 1x30 just crapped out after about 6 yrs and I'm looking to upgrade to the 1x42 as I love the 1" belt for certain aspects of stem work. The up side is that in the mean time I've been doing my stem work on my 24 grit resin backed di...

Over all, this is a very good pipe for a 6th. DocAitch That. And it shows marked improvement over the others you've posted. Agreed. You are making progress. Now is about the time where I would say take a step back and take your time to make a classic billiard. Do it right. Don’t worry about how lon...

Howdy, all -- Manny asked me to break the voting tie for this year's PITH shape. So, here you go: Author Why? Two reasons. By definition the PITH is a learning exercise, so a commonality of problems faced---and their solutions explained here on the board---will apply to, and benefit, ever...

I’m really looking forward to this! The more time I spend in the forum, the more I learn. When I read and look at the pipes in the gallery I just think I should give up,but something keeps drawing me back. It embarrass me when I think about the 7 pipes I’ve given away already. I may be skipping step...

Re: PITH 2018!!!!
It seems that we have a tie on our hands between an author and an Ivarrson tribute. In order to break the tie, I have asked a certain non-participant to weigh in and help us determine our shape. I will not disclose who it is because I have yet to receive a reply as to whether they will do it or not....
