Re: Introducing myself + my new halloween pipe
So you basically just add alcohol based stain and light it? I wanted to try that but my stain evaporated so fast that I didn't have time to do it! Can you get it to show off any other underlying color than black? Mine was almost pure black because of the burn so I filled in with black stain to make ...

Re: New pipe...just finished today...
Nice job!
Although my personal opinion is that by following the lines of the stummel, maybe the stem has a little bit too much upwards angle. Might look better with a little bend to it, please post the results if you go ahead with it
Best regards

Re: Rabbit skin mittens
Yeah
The fur is super soft and warm but I think the skin itself is to thin and fragile for a pair of slippers..maybe if the sole was made of something more wear resistant!

Rabbit skin mittens
Hi all! My little workshop is located at my parents place some 300 km from me, so during the winter I have to make other stuff more suitable for making in an apartment. Here are two pares of rabbit mittens I made from rabbit skin that I tawed. Both are hand sewed so the stitches are a bit irregular;...

Re: First Rustication Attempt
Peter, how did you achieve the third finish from the left in the top row with the dremel? What tool did you use?
They all look really nice!
Best regards Jon

Re: Introducing myself + my new halloween pipe
And, no. After polishing away all the ash and applying some extra black stain and waxing it doesn't smell of ash or burned at all.

Re: Introducing myself + my new halloween pipe
I found the technique on the Swedish pipe club homepage and they have a pdf there somewhere (although in Swedish) of how to do it. But the pictures speak for themselves anyway. Basically what you do is just torch the whole surface with a burner and then polish the ash on the surface away with a nylo...

Re: Marking tools
I have tried to mark my pipes with scrim shaw, often used in knife making to create artwork on mostly horn I guess. The result is ok but not too good, probably because of my own scrim-skills. It seems to be working fine to scrim the briar also as well as the horn and compared engraving freehand with...

Introducing myself + my new halloween pipe
Hello everyone! This is my first post here in this forum, as I am a new member, so I thought I will start by introducing myself. My name is Jon and I am 27 years old. I live in Gothenburg, Sweden, but I currently have my hobby pipe making workshop at my parents farmhouse in southern Sweden. I am rea...
