Re: Meer liners

Thoughts on meer bowl liners? I have been offered some and I would like to give them a try but not sure how exactly I would go about fitting them, are they glued in etc? Have only owned one. It was by no means an expensive pipe. After about twenty bowls or so the liner began to creep up from the br...

Careful boys, it gets pretty raunchy towards the end. ; )

Damn, spent minutes of my life waiting for "raunchy." Still, though, did brighten my day up!

Re: curved shanks

I am afraid I am not in the camp that say make basic shapes until you have them right. It gets boring making the same thing over and over. If you want to perfect the billiard etc then by all means go this route but most people here want to make pipes for fun. With that in mind make what you like, i...

I am not a huge fan of rustication, but that is good looking! How did you accomplish it?

Re: Ricon Mini Lathe on sale

I have pretty much the same lather, though mine has a variable speed within belt changes. It's nice, works great, though I am by no means an expert.

Do you live in Atlanta? Highlands Woodworking is a great store! Worth a visit, even if you're not buying.

Re: Lathe Question

You can buy seasoned cherry and other wood on ebay for pretty good prices and you can get good sizes as well. But I would agree with most, go with briar and with Steve, he's great to deal with and his briar is absolutely gorgeous!

Re: New member from Virginia

Rustburg, South of Lynchburg, right? Some of my family lives in Va, between C'Ville and Richmond. Going to visit them next week, actually. I love Virginia. UVA undergrad and law. I still miss it after almost thirty years of living in Atlanta, Ga.

Re: Another question about chuck jaws

I got a pair of Steve's jaws and though I have only used them five or six times (making a living is a bitch and takes a lot of time!), they are immensely better than the tower jaws I was using before and the cost is right! Am really happy with them.

The only thing 9mm is good for is shooting, and not even that if there is a .45 around. :P

I like both domes and bevels. I think it depends on the rest of the style of the pipe.

Re: deleting old messages

OK, I'm an idiot on a computer. Can Someone tell Me how to delete old messages from My mailbox or inbox or whatever it is called? Thanks, Norm. Mark those which you wish deleted. Go to the bottom right dialog box, click to drop it and you will see "delete marked messages" or some such. Hi...
