Re: frustration viewed in picture format

I'd bet all of Rad's money that the indentation you are getting in the saddle is coming from using those HF files, and/or the Popsicle stick method you mentioned. It's not a bad idea, but the problem is that the stick A) may not be wide enough and B) it's hard to keep consistent pressure if the pape...

Re: frustration viewed in picture format

Thanks Ernie, I just cannot get this one nice and square without having a file line on it, plus making the line on the sides straight. Trying again today, just hoping I don't run out of stem first. Hey Billiard, What kind of file are you using? I think you will continue to find it frustrating to ge...

HA!

A) That's funny
B) It's not true (your pipes have come a long way, fast)
C) I'll be there, hoping to avoid interacting with any of you miserable competitors

I really like this one. Were I a smoker of that type, I'd snatch it up in a heartbeat. :)

I feel like embarking on a secret quest to capture your pipe making grimoire. Its arcane secrets would be worth combating hundreds of...dare I say...goblins.

I lost all my teeth trying to rusticate my pipes by chewing on them. It was a technique Bruce Weaver suggested. I guess his dentures are made of sturdier stuff than my chompers. *sigh*

Re: Metal Ball in Pipe Photos?

Yep, it's a magnet. It's easy to pose the pipe that way without needing to use tape or something on the back side of it. Simple as that. If you are questioning the integrity of a maker's photography and their desire to hide something like a bad draft hole, you probably shouldn't be buying a pipe for...

Trever, I understand your position on wafflers; however, I'm curious as to your position on waffles? Would you say you are pro-waffle, anti-waffle, or a waffle neutral?

Re: Febing's Red Problems

Try hitting it with a heat gun, Todd, right after you apply the stain. Then, give it a night to dry even more beneath the surface.

I've never used that particular color of Fiebings, so this may not be a solution, but it cannot hurt.

Well, duh. I'm a fantastic critiquer, and a terrible pipe maker. That's why I can charge so much for my pipes. People pay extra for paradoxical stuff.

Only if I put it on backwards. Here's a little drawing of the situation. The end of the pipe needs a little "tenon" to fit into the little mortise, the stepped part inside the shank cap. http://i698.photobucket.com/albums/vv347/Sasquatchman1/cap.jpg Man, that shank needs a lot of refineme...
