Re: Buckeye or A+M
I got quotes from Paul, Infinity, Sossner's and Buckeye. Buckeye had the best price by far and also was very willing to help me alter details to make it just right. I was very pleased with their service and price. I have never dealt with another company, and don't think I'll need to. If I ever need ...

Re: Shop Made Tower Jaw Dimensions
+1 on self-centering, I wish I had one!! The independent only takes a few more seconds to get centered, but self-centering is the way to go. Maybe some day I will find a self-centering chuck that will fit these jaws. Basically, for the towers, use a solid piece of metal as opposed to a front plate a...

Re: Shop Made Tower Jaw Dimensions
If you have access to machinery and want to "do it once and never again", I'd consider something along these lines. I took the original jaw and reversed it (as you would for gripping big pieces). Then cut out the notches from bar stock and match it to the notches on the original jaw. Keep ...

I know this is an old topic but does anyone have some example pictures they could post? I like the idea of using these bits. I have no idea what the tip should look like. No point at all? Is any other sharpening required after shaping? Also in another thread some talked about putting the (spade) bi...

Re: vermontfreehand.com is now LAUNCHED!
Steve, it's a nice improvement over the eBay page. Do you have any plans to set up a shopping cart right on your web page? yes, hopefully by the end of the year it will have the cart. It's gonna take some time to program the right shipping arrangements since so many products are hard to standardize...

As much as I would like to get rid of ebay, it's a great resource to bring in new customers (especially from other industries), so it will stay up for surei.keenum wrote:Sweet! Congrats on the website brother, you still going to be doing ebay?

Re: new NYH cumberland color
I too hope to see some solid colors and other cumberland colors come out of NYH. They seem a little slow in the process of "finding the right pigments", but they're getting there. I'll see what they have in their plans for solid colors. I have the orange/black currently in 16mm, but thats ...

new NYH cumberland color
due to some quirks in the rubber industry, NYH has discontinued some colors and are trying new pigments to obtain new cumberland colors. At present they offer black/red, black/purple and black/turquoise and they will soon finish the tests with black/orange. Here's a pic of the new purple. I hope to ...

Re: Ebonite flaws?
my ebonite source specifically told me this was nyh so I hope it's not the nikko :-) I can assure you this is NYH material. These "flaws" look like tiny little bubbles with a crease I've seen bubbles before, but not creases, I'm wondering how loaded your wheels are Not sure if the wheels ...

a lot of people use a 36 grit wheel for rough shaping, but since I do not use one, not sure where to send you I do carry/stock a 5" hook and loop with it's own arbor ($25 for pad and arbor) and I also carry the J. Alan french wheel that fits on your own Beall arbor ($80 for the french wheel, $1...
