I like the pipe overall. What bothers me is the shank is totally straight. It looks like a straight pipe with a backwards cant, rather than a bent pipe. The shank needs some curve on top and bottom.

I purchased some from Mcmastercarr. It supposedly lexan polycarbonate. It machines and works like acrylic, only it is a harder material. I may make another stem from it soon.

Im am in Alabama this weekend, but The briar lab guys are taking some of my pipes to the show this weekend.

Norm. If you increase the angle on the bottom of the pipe just a touch it will probably sit quite nicely.

When you heat a stem unseen scratches will come to the surface. I get a better finish by sanding very well up to 600, then quickly with 800 1000 and 1500. very brief sanding with those three grits.
