Re: Gloredo Pipe Cleaners

Searched around for the Vauen and found the white and blue ones but they're the bristle kind. I couldn't find the white ones anywhere online in the states. Seems Vauens are a lot more expensive than the standard. The Gloredos were almost the same price as the BJ Long cleaners, if I remember correctl...

Re: drilling an opera

I've owned one before and didn't like the way it smoked. Maybe that's just the old man in me.

Re: Are Pipemakers Wood Turners?

Only thing I've ever turned was a crappy table leg in shop in college. Didn't see another lathe for ten years until one appeared in my apartment.

I guess there are those of us who turn tenons but I don't know if that methodology translates to wood turning.

Gloredo Pipe Cleaners

Anyone know what happened to these? I bought a ton of them 4 years ago and am about to run out.

Smokingpipes doesn't have them anymore and I haven't found anywhere else that does. Anybody got any info or leads?

What compressor did you get? Does it run off the 30amp dryer breaker or did you change breaker size?
I got the Bellaire 2-stage 80 gallon. It runs happily on the 30 amp dryer breaker. No changes were made to the breaker.

Re: Blasting

Can I use that receptacle with an extension cord? Don't use an extension cord. Buy the proper wiring for your compressor in the proper length then buy the proper plug. Wire one end directly into your compressor's control box and wire the plug to the other end. Look up how to wire it all together sa...

Re: Pipe #17 - Acorn

If you subscribe to your theory that you shouldn't do something like Mark did on this pipe is David's blast on top smooth on bottom Tomato wrong as well? I see a bunch of things that I could've done better to make that pipe work. I think a larger smooth bevel would've looked better or blending the ...

Re: Posting Your Pipes For Critique

Is that what this feeling is? It's strangely liberating. I was afraid my sociopathic tendencies were getting the better of me, but if it's just "arrival" then we're all good. I think so, but I haven't gotten there yet with pipes. I got there with acting just before I got my deg...

Re: Leather Pipe Bags and Leather Sewing Machines

David, are those old treadle machines, or just the "built like a tank" ones that they don't make anymore? She recommended the old foot powered ones above all other Singer type machines. I'm looking at the ones that are "built like a tank" and are electric powered. According to h...

Sweet pipe, Scottie.

Is there a dip in the line of the shank where the shank meets the bowl? Right on top.

Re: Leather Pipe Bags and Leather Sewing Machines

I've been looking into this too and, as luck would have it, my mother-in-law is a professional seamstress and repairs and restores sewing machines. Been doing it for decades. I asked her about this and she sent me a slew of info, the jist of which is this: for our purposes, we probably want a Singer...

Re: Grubs in my briar

Last year, I had a block in which the very same dust pits showed up, just more of that. I poked out the dust, and this is what turned out: https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-wCWy1K_tous/VKb-_SbkzwI/AAAAAAAAD1g/e5zlNYiuyGM/s640/CAM00099.jpg In one of the holes I found dryed remainders of the critter...
