Thanks Guys, do you see a problem using Delrin as a tenon for the shank the same way you do for a stem? so that the extension and the shank would both have a mortise with a delrin tenon junction holding them together?

Shank extensions
I made a pipe with an acrylic shank extension that I cut a tenon on one end and placed it inside the mortise and of course the extension had a mortise drilled into the other end to receive the stem , I then epoxied the extension into the shank. Is this the proper way to do this? and if not what is? ...

Thanks for the advice guys, I am trying to get away from the preformed stems, and working a little more with acrylics, still kind of nevous about trashing a rod of ebonite....LOL

mortise bits
does anyone use mortising bits? or regular drill bits? I have been using a standard bit for my mortise but I am curious to any advantage to one or the other

I went to wal mart and bought a bottle of the KY personal lubricant, the liquid type, for drilling acrylic, it seems to be working well

I like how the rustication is on the bowl only it kinda says "hey here is my shape", but it would have looked good had you have gone the whole way with it as well

6" 39mm threaded backing plate for a 9X19 grizzly
does anyone know where I could find a backing plate like this other than grizzly? I can't find them anywhere other than Grizzly and compared to what I see of prices for other backing plates, grizzly seems way expensive, unless they are the only ones who makes them then I can understand why!
