Built in tamper
Does anyone know of any pipes that have the tamper and pick discretely built into the pipe? I was looking at my mushroom pipes and the air hole and smoke hole each take up a mushroom, but there are other mushrooms in the cluster that aren't doing anything and they could be holding a tamper and/or pi...

Re: Preparing/staining plateau?
Good looking pipe! And no scratches. As usual, it must be me and not the method that needs to be worked on.
Thanks,
Duane

I'm pretty sure they can be colored when they're melted, as that's how they're colored in the first place. And Duane, please stop with the "heehee". It's driving me crazy. Rad OK...No more "heehees", just remember I'm just a joke! ______! The Bar-B-Que didn't wor...

Re: Preparing/staining plateau?
I'll have to try it like that again, with a little more care taken...a softer touch and see if I can avoid scratching it.
Thanks
Duane

Thanks!
I'll give that some research and see what I can find out...and...if I'm successful, I'll post my results...if not, heehee, I'll buy another stem, which is what I was thinking I'd have to do anyway!

Re: Sculptures
I know from my experiences in other fields that the joy I found in the beginning didn't die, but sort of converted to the joy I receive now when I help others and see the results of their efforts and feel the joy they are having.....it's like what is going on here at this web site. I do have to take...

Yeah...I figured I'd just be stuck with that, or buy a new one. (Tried making one, but found that out of my league for now! heehee!)

Re: Sculptures
Thanks! My sculpturing is like my pipe making....I just do it for the fun in it. Making art & pipes for me is like having sex. I just enjoy doing it. :) And, I must say that I feel a bit sorry for those "experts" held in high esteem in either or both fields of art and/or pipe making. N...

Coloring stems
I have this pipe I made with the acrylic stem I bought and it's almost a good color, but as you can see it needs some help. I tried the alcohol dyes I use on the briar, but they don't work, just buffs off. Is their some way I can smooth the colors out or re-color it....the coloring is inside and can...

Re: Smokin' Mushrooms
I got the briar I ordered yesterday, so I started to work on it before the world ends! I was surprised that it arrived so early and then realized that I had read the date back-ass-ward, which I do some times…”to ship on Dec. 12”…not the 21. I was wondering why it would take so long, because PIMO has...

Re: Preparing/staining plateau?
My girlfriend really enjoys scraping all the bark off the top of the plateaux, so I just hand her a small screwdriver and a block of wood- she brings it back within a few hours nice n' clean. Works well enough for me! I realize that this is an old post, but I thought I'd share my method for bark re...

Re: Smokin' Mushrooms
My first thought when seeing that pipe in your previous post was actually of heavy briar knuckles :D Oh...that isn't good! I hope the guys at the bar don't recognize it as a weapon...that might insight things!?!? I ordered my next briar from Ginny (PIMO) for my first attempt at a "real" t...

Re: Smokin' Mushrooms
Thanks...Glad you enjoyed it!...heehee! BTW... the color contract is a bit sharp, but I only stained the top and after some smoking time the colors mello out a bit like on this one: Before: http://s1320.beta.photobucket.com/user/Duane_Beitmen/media/M3.png.html?sort=3&o=17#/user/Duane_Beitmen/med...

Smokin' Mushrooms
Note: I only smoke tobacco, I don't even know if mushrooms are smoked...and I'm not interested in knowing...heehee! I finally reached what I call my “Popeye Point” with this pipe. That’s when I say, “That’s all I can SANDS and I can SANDS no more!” http://s1320.beta.photobucket.com/user/Duane_Beitme...

My Pipe Rack
I wanted to build a pipe rack, so I went online to find something to copy, but there was nothing out there that impressed me. But as I was thinking this guy's name came to mind, Rene Magritte. He was a surrealist and came out with his "The Treachery of Images" in 1928-29, which was a pictu...

Re: Best Smoking Pipe
Excellent starting place for my first "real" pipe. I've been making "anything goes" and "mushroom" pipes for the last year. (And, no I don't smoke mushrooms in them....I don't even know if mushrooms are smoked???...heehee!) http://s1320.beta.photobucket.com/user/Duane_B...
