Re: Art or Craft?
Yes Jeremiah, my mistake. You are absolutely right, I did not mention that art is also a product of the creators own emotion, and is one of, if not the most important element. That is what makes it original. You are also right about interpretation. A cover band is just a cover band, and reproducing ...

Re: Art or Craft?
My personal opinion is that making the pipe is "craft" designing it is "engineering and design" and the emotion it bestows upon you or another is "art". Art is emotion, not the act or ability to create it. The act or ability to create is called skill. Take music for exa...

Re: Super Duper Ultra Extreme Mega Secret
Does the drilling technically have to intersect at the bowl in order to be an official cavalier? I see from the one Micha posted a picture of that the drilling does not intersect at the bowl. Is it still technically a cavalier?

Well this will be interesting, and definitely a challenge! The possibilities for design are almost limitless. I can't wait to see what kind of mechanical contraption Nate will come up with
I have a few ideas. Good? Probably not so much Good luck too all!

Re: Do the prices of other pipe makers bother you?
I do my best to set the value of my pipes not on what I wish I could sell them for, or what others that are at or below my skill level sell theirs for, but on how much I would be willing to spend on the quality of my own work. I have progressed a lot in the 4 years I've been learning and making pipe...

Re: best place for begginers to sell?
That is a great set Ian. IMO it is priced too low. I think you'd make more selling them individually, but as a set I'd say $250-275 seems like a fair price. The first thing I see that would be a deterent is the initials on the top of the shank. Keep it on the bottom. Your work is definitely showing ...

Yes it was great finally getting to meet most of you. Honestly you all are exactly how I'd envisioned you to be. I have not come across one ill soul in this brotherhood. Premal as well as many of you have encouraged me and given me helpful advise that you can not put a price on. I am regretful that ...
