Re: How thin is thin enough- Shellac
Well Longneckers, you're entitled to your opinion. Everything in your first post was technically correct, and totally irrelevant to the discussion being had. Those who use shellac here do so for many reasons, those who eschew it do not do so because it's "bug shit". The finish you got on ...

Re: How thin is thin enough- Shellac

Re: How thin is thin enough- Shellac
Shellac < bug shit finish is not durable other finishes are. hard finishes can yellow, chip and scratch, but they show the wood grain the best and protect the wood. But dont do well with heat. http://i1110.photobucket.com/albums/h454/mortuarymike/POCKET%20CHALKER%204%20BRANDON%20%2022%20MAY%202012/I...

Re: Looking for a taig lathe
I have a couple taig lathes, I would buy the taig with the big bore spindle with the indexer. both of my taig lathes are set up with live cutters. I do not suggest a taig for metal work. one outlet for taig lathes is http://cuesmith.com/ chris hightower owner of cue man billiards is very honest man....

Re: Hello from Reno
I have been poking around on this group for a couple of weeks now. Actually started my first attempt at a pipe and have made a couple of posts about it. Mainly an exorcise to find out how much I can get done in my current shop and what I will need to add. I have made pens for many years so I have a...
