My first pipe... and first crack...

I'm very new to pipe carving and have just finished the initial sanding on my pipe. As I was getting ready to move to sanding by hand I noticed a nice crack that began to develop. Help me find a lathe Chuck!

I'm new to pipe making and wood/metal working all together. I have Access to an old 1950's Atlas/Clauseing 6300 12" Lathe. The only chucks I can find with it are 3 jaw and 4 jaw (12") non centering. I'm looking for something that can be used on it to hold my briar. The threads are 2 1/4&qu...
