Re: Chuck Question
Theoretically, but why use dated tooling when there is better. Try Trent Rudat, he makes fantastic two jaw chucks.

That is very Rod-ish.
Spoke with him last week and all is well with him.
I'm not as old as him, he's a year older, but I completely understand the retirement.

Yep.
Dunhill's normally have a silver ferrule.
You don't want to get a pipe back after a customer pushes the stem in too hard and cracks the mortise.

If so, does anyone have a schematic that they would be willing to share?
I know that J.Alan makes them, but I am not ready to spend that much money on french wheels if I could possibly make them on my own.

Re: 3/4 bent with cumberland and cocobolo
With the shank getting larger from cheeks to mortise, it lacks flow and that's all I see. My eyes became fixated on the lack of a graceful flow. If you would lightly taper from the cheeks and soften the bend in the stem, you would have a pretty piece. The stem is long, but a graceful bend would help...

Re: #31 - Bent billiard
The shank is a bit large for the bowl. The exterior bowl walls a a bit too straight. A little more rounding to the rim would have been nice. The stem is too small for the shank cap, you want it to be a tight fit. The Ebonite ring is too large, it should be a wafer, a/b 25% its current size. The chee...

Re: 2nd Pipe For Critique Please - Small Volcano
When sanding, do not remove the stem, leave the stem in the pipe. This keeps you from rounding the stem at the shank. The bend on the stem is too abrupt at the middle. A graceful bend would be an improvement. The stem looks a bit thick at the button. Clean up the button hole. A pipe cleaner with tri...

Just shape tools with a radius.
I have a number of tools with a different radius, depending on what I'm going for.
Make sure they're sharp.
While on the lathe, sand smooth and tripoli.
Just think it through, it's rather basic.
