Re: Out of the blue proposition...
Sounds like the "pipes" are briar blocks.
This is what sucks about the internet, e-mail, etc. A five minute phone call would make it perfectly clear what he wants and if you want to do it.
When he hears what it costs he'll probably back out anyway.

"But how much of the Stradivarius' appeal is about the sound of the instrument, and how much is about the brand" The author is clearly in "brand is everything" camp. Ok, I get it. I do find it interesting that after many many years of proven superiority, the Strad was found to be...

Walt, you said "had". I think it would be beneficial to Alex to explain why it's not "have". Maybe not so beneficial an explanation... At one point, I had to sell my workshop and everything in it. Do you think there is any benefit to the average non-professional pipe maker havin...

Re: Set Up
I had a setup like this many years ago. It's great for a guy who just wants a bunch of different wheels for no apparent reason! Walt, you said "had". I think it would be beneficial to Alex to explain why it's not "have". Alex, why do you want the system described above? What's w...
Re: I DID IT!
I made a cardboard light box with thin white fabric on 5 sides years back and still use it. It works great except ... I'm never happy with the results. The pipes never look like the real thing. I have 4 "daylight" lights that I experiment with in various locations. I always like the look a...

Hail Mary, Full of Grace, The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of death. Amen. Repeat Daily. I COULD NOT have said it better! "Father forgive him, for he knows not wh...

Have any idea what kind of wood that is? Really cool and congrats on the find! That's a nice functional design too. I can't wait to see the finished product.

I'll check with Craig Cobine and see what times are available and how the whole thing works. I assume most of you will be selling pipes so what time do you prefer?

Is there/should there be a PMF meet up in the smoking tent on Saturday? Pipesmagazine & smokers forum do it and have reserved tables.

Water or oil soluble? ... or both. I do like the color selections. For the oil soluble they recommend mixing with toluol or high grade lacquer thinner. Can denatured alcohol be used?wdteipen wrote:Fiebing's if you want premixed. J. E. Moser's if you want to mix your own from powder.

I have a hard time cutting a nice straight line with them. It's probably due to my inexperience. Let us know how it works for you.

Has anyone proved that briar dust is hazardous to your health? I just have to question whether a separate air cleaner is really required (beyond a dust collector).
