Re: Jaws For Holding Briar in Your Chuck!

Here are the pictures of the jaws I made that can be reversed to hold pen blanks. http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c319/dawgr/Tooling/DSC01508_zpswkvnqkfu.jpg http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c319/dawgr/Tooling/DSC01507_zpsdfxdaabk.jpg http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c319/dawgr/Tooling/DSC01506_...

Re: Jaws For Holding Briar in Your Chuck!

Thanks again for all the positive reports guys. I'm still thinking on the pins. It's been raining here all day but with warmer temps. So a good day to spend some time in the shop. I got one set done for someone but was set up and had time too make a couple extra sets. I also made a special set. I cu...

Re: Jaws For Holding Briar in Your Chuck!

I could add pins, but the price would go up, how much I don't know right now. I did make a set a couple months ago and added the pins to them. With the height I make my jaws the block wouldn't pivot without removing the block. I'd have to make the jaws taller and with taller comes more weight sticki...

Re: Metal Lathe

I made a tool rest for my 920 Jet metal lathe. I made it small but stout. I remove my quick change tool holder and mount this one too the cross slide. I can then adjust it any way I like to get close, I also made the rest adjustable up and down. And with it being small/short I can get in close to my...

Re: Jaws For Holding Briar in Your Chuck!

I have been making a few sets of these and wanted to re-post a tip I use that makes my jaws easier to use. A little tip on these........... The jaws are 1" material. So I mark on my block where I want my bore and airway drilled using a small rule that is 1/2" wide. So I mark two lines foll...

Nice, I like the drawers. It's nice for storing all the tools and such right with the lathe.

Re: Jaws For Holding Briar in Your Chuck!

Your right pipedreamer. I actually use a wood lathe chuck from Grizzly tools on my Jet 920. Works great and they have a few different spindle thread sizes available. The jaws on these chucks have the same bolt pattern as a nova or oneway chuck but use a smaller screw size to hold them on. I actually...

Re: St. Louis 2015 Roll Call

I'll be there. I've been there every year for the last 7 and have always had a table. The St. Louis show can be a bit slow for a seller, but it's steady for the most part. Also, they sell beer and lunch stuff! Sad that it's going away, not sure what I'll do for fun in Feb. from here on out. Guess I'...

Re: Installing quick change on Grizzly G4000

I've actually done some of the mods on that page to my Jet lathe. You'll enjoy the net lathe....... I know I like having mine for more than just pipe making. And having the Quick Change Tool Post is something I like as well.

Re: Installing quick change on Grizzly G4000

This lathe on this site is not the Grizzly but all the mods will work. Look down thru the mods and you'll find the one for the QCTP mounting methods. Ideas can be gleaned from these and adapted to be used with your lathe and the tool post your using. http://bedair.org/Toolpost/Toolpost9x.html There ...

WTB Barracuda2 chuck!

As many of you know I make jaws to mount on a wood chuck for holding briar blocks. I mostly make them for Nova and Oneway chucks. But have made a few sets for a Barracuda 2 chuck. I have a chuck from Grizzly for my Jet 9x20 and it has the same bolt pattern as the Nova/Oneway, just smaller hold down ...

Re: Who's Gettin a New Shop ? This Guy

Definitely a nice place. Reminds me a lot of mine with the dedicated shop. It feels good, doesn't it? All that work and planning is well worth it too. Enjoy it and be sure to post pictures as you set it up. That way we can all enjoy it with you. We bought a place much like the one you have. It had b...
