The one thing that has really changed for me, since I got interested in making pipes are the asthetics. I used to swear by saddle bits. On any pipe. How long between staining and and shelac?
How long should I wait between staining and shelacing? I mean the stain is dry, but somthing tells me I should wait a day or two. Any insight would be appriciated.

Spanau Lemon wood pipe
Have any of you seen the pipe made out of Lemon wood over at the neatpipes.com site? They look too cool. I wonder how they smoke? I was tempted, but they were juyst out of the price range, plus I tend to be a fast puffer and would probably burn the thing right through.
