Re: My First Pipe: In Process

Thanks for the words of encouragement! Now what is this putty you speak of? Also, to make myself feel better, I bored the airway and the pilot for the chamber of another stummel that I've almost fully shaped. With a 2mm bore, I connected on the first try! Talk about a way to make me feel better! I'l...

Re: My First Pipe: In Process

Looks like I've got a lot to learn. Patience and taking care are two lessons learned here. I knew that I'd drilled a bit low, but while trying to round out the bottom of the bowl, I opened up the two holes you see above. So many would've/could've thoughts floating through my head at this moment. I'm...

Uhm... er... wow... that's... gorgeous. So gorgeous in fact that I think it needs to be studied in detail. I highly recommend sending it to me so I can comb over it carefully. I'll get it back to you once it's broken in.

Re: My First Pipe: In Process

Having just arrived home from a brief trip, I'll be trying to find some time to start working on my pipe again and will continue to post pics and maybe a video or two as thing...

Re: My First Pipe: In Process

Humph. For some reason I couldn't get the video to post or figure out how to link to the thread that Kurt created containing the video. Well, it's in "Stem Work" and is titled "Modifying the slot of a preform pipe stem - with video!"

Re: My First Pipe: In Process

It's no video, but this might help you to visualize the process until Kurt gets something put together; the red marks are the drill bit; insert it straight through the slot, into the 1/16 hole. Then angle it slightly and pull it back out, using the drill bit threads as a cutting tool. All processes...
