Re: Anse Hatfield's pipe

The door opens another crack: from Hollywood.com Kevin Costner has credited beards, pipes and letters with helping him perfect his Devil Anse Hatfield character for TV mini-series Hatfields & Mccoys, because the accessories helped him research the feuding post-American Civil War patriarch. The ...

Re: Starting out

You've completely missed my point, completely missed it. As in not even on the same planet anymore. And if you would look around, I've asked many questions, and I read a lot of what others write, and I take a lot of advice. But, I still do things my own way, plain and simple. And I don't expect any...

Re: Slack Belt Sander SFPM?

Depends on if you've got shop worn gnarly man hands or desk/computer made, well lotioned girl hands...lol! The step pulley should give you some room to decide whats comfy. Disclaimer:I am not an expert. I am regurgitating stuff I have read. There are a few posts here on speed, building, supplies, et...

Re: Slack Belt Sander SFPM?

Get a 1750rpm motor, attach a stepped pulley to your motor shaft and drive wheel shaft. Should be good for a range of low speeds. You can harvest motors from dryers etc.

Re: Anse Hatfield's pipe

Some of the other pipe boards have also been discussing Costner's pipe but so far I don't believe any source has been revealed. Nice job on this one by the way. I have one on the drawing board but it will probably be a while since I have a "real" job to contend with. But that is what pays...

Re: Anse Hatfield's pipe

I had actually made something "like" it a few weeks before the show aired. I was surprised, almost wondered if they guy who bought mine sold it to Costner...lol...well, not "exactly" alike anyways...With humble approach here it is: http://outoftheshavins.weebly.com/uploads/8/6/2/...

Re: Just finished this one this afternoon

It's funny. I wouldn't think that I have anything that is particularly recognizable about my pipes yet. That could be a good thing or a bad thing LOL. I guess every artist has tendencies to do things particular ways which make each piece somewhat recognizable. Now that I think about it, there are se...

Re: Just finished this one this afternoon

I go through stages of wondering why I make pipes, what good is it doing anybody?, even to the point where I start wondering what I could get for my tools. This happens quite frequently actually. Don't you dare quit, Brian! If you do I will fly down to Alabamy and personally sucker punch you! :twak...

That thing looks really neat. I wonder if the back end could be rounded over or ground down to fit into a jacobs chuck? It is partially round until it gets to those angles. Anybody think this is stupid?
