It's most like a sealer, except that the lore says it breaths (how, it beats me). Buffing and carnauba wax is the real...

Re: Nylon Brush Wheel Non Abrasive

I use a Dremel and a nylon brush (I think is this one, number #403) and it works wonderfully.

Re: Modifying (grinding) a spoon bit

Thank you guys.

Yes, I'm using them with a pilot hole.

So I guess it's just matter of grinding a few flats on the back. Lets see what happens next.

Modifying (grinding) a spoon bit

Hey fellas, it's been a while... Last weekend I finally managed to rebuild my shop and, to celebrate it, made a pipe. I'm using Brad's spoon bits (I think it's from the first batch) and I had forgotten how they were supposed to be used. I got my answer in this forum (to one of my own questions, heh,...

Re: New Pipe Maker wants critique

Please do yourself a favor and try making a traditional pipe. Your pipes are quite good for a beginner, but alternative materials and finishes will get you nowhere (been there.)

Re: Nording: Finish or not to finish?

Somehow I don't think Ben Wades are going to bounce back to the crazy prices they were somewhere around 2000, so I won't worry much about value.

And I think we have established here about pipes being functional objects, dammit! :takethat:

You are not going to sell anything here. Pipemakers are disgustingly cheap guys.

Do you hang around in alt.smokers.pipes? It used to work wonders when I announced my work there (I don't sell pipes nowadays, but still try to make them.) My experience is several years old, thought.

I remember agonizing over the stem, and in the end I just gave up.

Paul is still at it. I know there is some work done to your design in case there are issues (stamps have its quirks) but I'm not aware of any CAD thing - I *think* they use simple drawing programs to refine the design. I think you shouldn't have any issue now.

You know, one fancies himself of being pretty smart sometimes, and then see stuff like sticky tape and, well duh, that's obvious, then why didn't you think about it first, then, uhh, yeah, well, your mom's ugly.
