Do you have photo shop or any other photo editor? if so make you can take the two separate photos of each side and make them into one. Web sites are more work than you can ever expect them to be. but very very nice to have once the work is done.

Re: making rope tobacco?

Kurt, I also realize this is an old topic. But I just read a book on tobacco that was written in 1886 or there about. It did talk about making rope tobacco along with many other end product processes. Here is the outline of what it describes. although machines make it easier to do it originally was ...

You can order 'em right from teknatool - I'm not sure if those exact jaws are what you want but they have a wide range.
Thank you, these are the ones I had my eye on as well.

Daniel, See if this one works for you. It is another that several people recommend. http://www.easycharge.net/?adcenter=prod One more BancCard merchant account for credit card payments And yet one more maybe. Squareup.com! What devices can I use with Square? Square is available for iPhone, iPod touc...

Re: payment options - advice needed.....

Daniel, Sounds familiar. Pay Pal simply does not offer all services everywhere. I didn't think of Google checkout but have heard of a lot of people going to it. even old pay pal customers. As for 3.9% + $0.30 per transaction being to much. Think so? where is the better deal with better or even equal...

Re: payment options - advice needed.....

Daniel, If it si at all possible to set up payments through pay pal I would highly recommend it. Otherwise you might want to check with your bank and see if they have any services for making safe and secure transactions. They may be able to set you up with credit card ability and all. I cannot think...

Re: Jet JWBS-9 Bandsaw

Kurt. One of the first things ever cut on it was railroad ties. and it went through them like a hot knife through butter. I also cut up 500 lbs of wet walnut burl. the sap building up on the blade took out one of the guide bearing before I realize what was going in. the bearing was a couple of bucks...

Re: Jet JWBS-9 Bandsaw

Adry, Not that I have done an exhaustive search, But I am thinking that bearing guides for a 9 inch saw is going to be a no. I have a Grizzly 14 inch and one of the reasons I do is at that time it was the smallest saw i could find that had bearing guides. It was also advertised as one of the first 1...

I am a big believer in less is more in web sites. If you get into promoting it very seriously you will find out fast why. you measure the response of your customer in seconds. The time it takes to make the next click in fact. it will either be to look at more of your site or it will be to move on to...

Re: Leather covered pipes

I have done just a little bit of leather work, and known others that do also. A lot of it is done while the leather is wet. Mostly the stamping and decorating. I have sewn leather and know there is a "Blind" Stitch for closing up a seam and that sort of thing. I would start with Tandy Leat...

Re: Hand Sharpening Lathe Tools

Thinking of what most pipe makers would have int here shop. I would suggest you sharpen them on a sanding belt or disk. An that is only when they need it. You can put an edge back on a turning tool with a slip stone or diamond file just fine. but sooner or later, more often sooner. You will have to ...

Re: Which virginia grows best on the california coast.

Hello Sam, I just discovered the idea of growing my own tobacco myself. So I have no experience with any strains of any kind. I do have enough homework under my belt to have purchased my first seeds (several varieties), and set up my light and stand for germinating my first 80 or so seeds. I am movi...

Re: Maximum yeild from a given space

Here is a bit more info I found on the growing tobacco site. A post was made by someone that mistakenly planted !!!4!!! plants all in the same spot. He was a new grower so his opinion of the results would be suspect simply because of lack of experience. His spacing was already only 18 inches for the...

Re: Maximum yeild from a given space

Kurt, factors that might effect the quality of the finished product are far to many to try and track with any test of this sort. that issue would simply have to be a matter of the growers opinion. since that is all that really matters anyway it is not a huge consolation. Anyone with experience in gr...

Maximum yeild from a given space

Hello folks. I just ordered my first tobacco seeds fro the seedman yesterday. I also discovered the forum growyourowntobacco.com and applied to be a member. So far it has not been approved so I am not able to post this there. This post is on a subject I have not seen yet anywhere so I want to do a l...

Abi, Although I will not argue that you are still a blind man seeking your way across the log. I don't see any danger of you falling off. Perfection may not be the goal of your journey. But there are obviously some amazing results along the path. This pipe is a testament to that. Extremely well done...

Hello from Reno

I have been poking around on this group for a couple of weeks now. Actually started my first attempt at a pipe and have made a couple of posts about it. Mainly an exorcise to find out how much I can get done in my current shop and what I will need to add. I have made pens for many years so I have a ...

Re: What's this tool?

Zero, one way i get real accurate diameters on my wood lathe is to keep a box end wrench next to me. As you say above, shave and test shave and test. but the wrench makes the test go much faster as I get close to my final diameter. You can actually use the wrench to burnish the final diameter this w...
