Re: PITH 2015
I always find myself going back and forth through the PITH thread every year trying to look at all of the pipes. So, for simplicity, I have re-posted mine here since I originally posted it a while back. Yes, it is actually free standing in the picture. There can be no drafts and the surface has to b...

And for some reason the red colors seem to be the most susceptible to this.

I like the concept of a Volcano shape on a slope.
I've never seen a Volcano like that.
Nicely done!

I agree with Alden.

Re: Pipe (turd) 3
I agree. You picked a really tough shape to get right.
Considering your lack of proper tools I think you did a fantastic job.
So don't beat yourself up over it.
Your father will love it.

Re: PITH 2015
OK, I got mine done. In the spirit of the PITH I decided to challenge myself. For some strange reason I choose the hardest shape I could imagine to try to make into a sitter. I don't normally name my pipes, but the geek in me requires that I christen this one "Unstable Equilibrium". (No on...

Re: Pipe #2 Dublin...slight improvement over #1 (but a LONG
I mean the Dublin/Cherrywood idea. There are different schools of thought, but my opinion is that it would be most helpful to you to work on mastering a few traditional pipe shapes first. Once you understand why they work aesthetically you can begin to experiment. That is if you want to sell pipes. ...

Re: Pipe #2 Dublin...slight improvement over #1 (but a LONG
Pipe making is hard enough (especially without a lathe), so don't mix and match your shapes. Pick one basic shape, find a picture on the internet of a fine example of that shape and try to reproduce it exactly . This isn't plagiarism, these shapes are all well established. And you will find this to ...

Pipe Bags?
My wife is getting tired of making pipe bags for me all the time and told me to look for another source. :banghead: Where do you guys get your pipe bags and how much do you pay for them? I found these at ULine, but I don't know about the quality. The price is right, though. http://www.uline.com/Prod...

Re: Dubdog...
I agree, you missed the Bulldog shape, but you did do a lot of things right on this pipe. Your lines are nice and sharp. I wouldn't be ashamed to smoke this pipe in public. Two critiques: Rounding the profile of the bowl (instead of straight lines) would have created the Bulldog shape you were after...
