Dremel Trio Router bits...

I bought two router bits for a "Dremel Trio" today. I thought they would work with my Dremel, but sadly they are too big for the shaft on mine. There is: - One trio 1/4 straight & one 1/8 corner rounding bit Bought them today (and they are still unused) for $17 and doubt they will take...

Re: one pot reject....

I really love the color and grain on this pipe, man...beautiful. About the stem, I'd agree with Kurt. It looks like it may have a very slight angel to it. Also, while I'm not typically a fan of saddle bits, I think it may help to balance this pipe. Man, fix the stem and you have one really nice look...

Sas, you haven't even asked me for my mailing address yet. How am I ever going to get a hands on learning experience if you don't hurry up and send me these pipes to, uhh, review?

Re: Old Dublin by CP

I'm not a fan of the bit. However, everything else about this pipe I LOVE. As it was said already, it's a very organic shape. This pipe could smoke like total crap (though I'm sure it smokes great) and I would still enjoy just looking at it.

Re: 4th pipe finished...

We had this discussion a few days ago.... LOL I thought the shank should be thinner, but Rad and Bruce liked it better how it was. Really, it is sort of a personal preference as to whether you like English looking pipes or fatter curvier Italian looking pipes. Yeah, I went with a majority rules, so...

Re: yet another volcano....

I've never been a fan of volcanoes. I mean really look what they did to Pompeii...ok sorry, bad joke. But seriously, not my favorite shape However, looks like you did a pretty good executing it. The grain is really nice. Did you do a black base layer of stain first? My only critique, and this could ...

4th pipe finished...

Here's my 4th finished up. I appreciate the advice you guys have given me. Even though I probably haven't been able to execute it well, I did take note and try to correct the issues you pointed out. The stem/shank junction is still not great, but I was able to close it up some. Also, I took a good b...

I'm getting some briar to take with me when we move in January...not much, but it will give me something to do for a while. Pretty pumped about that.

Re: Just playin' today

Alright man, here's my critique...and given that I've been a seasoned and world renown pipe maker now for at least 5 days, I know you value my opinion highly. The first pipe is not my cup of tea, though looks nicely executed. I like the button size a lot. I'm not a big button (or as Fred would say &...

Re: chubby pot thing (olive)

The "bubbly" shank is not my favorite, but overall I like it, man. I haven't checked out too many olive wood pipes, but of the ones I've seen this one has some of the more impressive grain...well on one side anyway.

How is it working with olive wood. Is it much different than briar?

Re: Show us your shop!

This is my dad's shop. It's set up almost entirely for automotive and welding work, but this is where I do the bulk of my work when making a pipe. http://i758.photobucket.com/albums/xx230/jmandjessigeorge/pipes/IMG_1770.jpg http://i758.photobucket.com/albums/xx230/jmandjessigeorge/pipes/IMG_1773.jpg...

I wish I would have known you'd trade graphic work for a pipe. I do a lot of graphic work on the side and mostly logo and company identity work. If you ever need any more graphic design work let me know, :)

LUCKY! (Napoleon Dynamite tone of voice) I lieu of a lathe I push a rasp...a lot. Oh well, it gets me (and I'm sure many others) by. Congrats on the sweet snag, though! I'm new here as well and on 5 pipes in. One word of caution...pipe making is ADDICTIVE!!! Enjoy it.
