Re: Manowar-Disc

I roughly shaped the pipe to set the angles, then I drilled the hole for the insert with a forstner. After that I did the drilling, inserted the ebonite and redrilled through the ebonite onto the original drilling (the hole) from a steeper angle. Last I smoothend the point where the two drillings me...

Re: First Pipe - Black Walnut

Nope, it wasn't the first attempt in woodworking. I built a house first and then decided to tackle something smaller... The pipe's color is mainly the natural wood tone of black walnut, I enhanced it a little with a very light mahagony stain though. Blows mine out of the water!! - That's not ...

And the motto from Steffen is just great! Yeah - and to show you what I mean here are the pictures to it: http://www.abload.de/img/p72043148igv.jpg http://www.abload.de/img/p7204316gcdo.jpg http://www.abload.de/img/p7204317qdjp.jpg You have to cross the border once in a while to know where it is......

Re: ....billiard attempt #1 - unfinished

Looking good, bandkbrooks!

I especially like the slightly slanted bowl which sort of "jazzes up" the klassic shape (don't know if this is understandable... ).

Best,

Steffen

Re: four new pipes

Hi Pär, nice Pipes, they seem to have a handwriting on them, I like them! The rustication and color on the second vulcano is awsome! As for shaping I think you stopped one short (as you said yourself). If the lines on the stem/mouthpiece section were more fluent and the transition (?) fro...

Re: Ok, here goes...

Hi Nate, I would say these are very ambitious first pipes! Very well done! And from a first impression I would also say that the finish is not your problem  . I am particularily impressed you made the mouthpiece out of the full material (didn't use a premade one)- good job! I'm not shure about...

Re: Manowar-Disc

Hi and thanks for the comments! Nate, yes, that's an ebonite insert. It was fun making and of course it was the only way the drilling could be done (at least with my tools since I can't do curved drillings...). DaGamba, sure there are faults! There's a small gap where the stem enters the insert and ...

First Pipe - Black Walnut

Hello friends of pipes and briardust, I read the thread on black walnut in the "Other things we make"-section with great interest since I made my very first pipe out of this back in January 2009. I did the drilling on a friends drillpress with a normal 20mm HSS metal drill. The ring I had ...

Manowar-Disc (No, not the heavy metal rock band!)

Hello again everybody, here's another pipe I made earlier this summer. This is a real Disc with a grain a little bit like a manowar. It is somewhat like an ancestor of the South Tirolian Lumber-Disc (which is why I chose it as a second pipe to present here) and if you guess how the drilling went you...

Abi, Walle,

the lines and curves of a pipe, a landscape, a woman - all very similar - aren't that thinks you can get drunk on?

The Chap in the Centre

Hello Pipemakers and -enthusiasts, after having been registered for some time and after having enjoyed the discussions and the pipes in this forum every once in a while, my friend Walle invited me to become a bit more active and show some of my own work here. So, I'm the chap in the centre in Walle'...
