Re: European Pipe Tour Suggestions??
it really depends on where you intend on spending time.... I haven't been to Amsterdam in years so I can't help out there.. but in Paris.. la chivette is worth a visit.. http://www.cigare-paris.fr/a-la-civette/ across the street is a great café and under the archway is a really cool estate pipe shop...

Re: pipe makers in northern VA or Washington D.C. area
Thanks.. I'm just checking to see who is around the area.. I'm pretty lucky here where I live... 3 of Europe's top pipe makers are within an hour of where I live... 4 other guys like me curiosity are also within an hours distance... So I get to "collaborate" quite a lot... and curiosity go...

Re: pipe makers in northern VA or Washington D.C. area
Well, I found a thread.. so at least I searched for it... it didn't answer my question but it was started well over 5 years ago...
are there any pipemakers in the Washington D.C. area...I guess an hours radius from there I would also consider the "area"...
thanks

And to think I've been rushing my firewood production... I mean I get it.. Cut it in half and burn it... All this time I can see where I've gone wrong in my production process.. No wonder our evening fire was only half as enjoyable as it could have been... Tomorrow will be different if I get home fr...

Re: thickness around tenon
I drill the tenon end with 4mm for the airway... And my tenon diameter is is 7 mm
I do this on both delrin and integrated tenons ... Unless they are army mounts.. Then no delrin and the tenon diameter varies from 9 to 11 mm depending in my bit used to drill the mortise

Re: One at a time or multi task
IAWR .. I agree with Ryan .. Not rad.. Although Chris does have a good point .. I work on multiple pipes at a time.. Unfortunately they all get done around the same time.. For instance the three I'm working on now we're all started at different times... Did various things to them over the past few w...

Re: AGGGH frustrated!
learning curve... that's why you don't buy expensive briar to start off with... I've thrown my fair share of briar away.... once you get to where you don't take too much material off.. you'll find a flaw that causes the same result.. and that's even more frustrating
