Carpool to Chicago Show on Friday
I fly into Chicago (ORD) around 1030 am on Friday. Anyone flying in around the same time that is interested in sharing a ride out to Pheasant Run?

Re: Dublin bamboo stem
Both sides for me. And to my eye, the diameter of the flare should be about the same as the nodes on the bamboo. Looks a little thick right now.

Re: prince #4
Much better than the last! As Rick said, some wobble at the shank/stem joint. in that last solo pic something looks just barely off. Not quite a mirror image, but real close. Side profiles look nice
Re: prince #3
Its all subjective. To me It could be a brandy, it could be a billiard if the bowl was a little taller. I like to go to smoking pipes and look at the shaping of different makers. Im looking for things like where does the waist sit, especially in relation to the meeting point of the top of the shank?...
Re: prince #3
Solid effort. Blast looks pretty good and love the black. Couple of things on the bowl shaping - They each relate to each other. 1)To me, the fattest part of the bowl on a prince should sit just at or below the midpoint of the bowl. On yours it looks like its sunk down to about the 3/4 mark. 2) The ...

Re: billiard stem
The blast fading into the stem looks very good to my eye - maybe just a hair too much taken off at the bottom. But overall, very nice. I think I will try this on my next blast.

Re: PITH 2018!!!!
Is it too late to join? I would love to throw a pipe in the hat this year. Finally got moved into a space about a year ago where I can set a shop and work on pipes again. :takethat: Rick - Congrats on the addition! My .02 on the pics - Top pic is starting to get a "racing" style eggy bowl ...

First 55 try
Here is my first attempt at a Castello 55 shape- I really like the shape, but have only seen one in pictures. Hopefully I came somewhat close. Still need to sand the chamber- I got a little antsy and took pictures instead. Let me know what y'all think! http://i853.photobucket.com/albums/ab98/aledogo...

Re: Table Top Pipe Stem
Kurt did something very similar to this a while back. This should help a lot. You can search " table top pipe" and get some more info on it. Trey I had this request from a customer in Germany looking for a stylized, yet realistic and slightly sinister looking, volcano shape designed to be ...

Re: My Two Latest
Thanks for the comments guys!
Kurt and Sas- I agree with both of your critiques. I think the ring became a little proud because I wanted to show off a new material... That was my first time to use celluloid and loved the ivory and maybe got a touch over zealous.

My Two Latest
Here are my two latest. I decided to work on my bent billiard shape. Both have celluloid faux ivory inlays. Re: Straw Poll - Interest in a Houston, Texas Pipe Club?
I actually thought about starting one in College Station this spring. I even got the ok from a local cigar/pipe shop to host the meetings. Houston is only about an hour away, so I would be interested. I would try to make it as much as I could with school going on.

3 New Billiards
Here are my 3 latest. These come right after my trip to the Chicago show and hopefully show a lot of improvement. I talked to quite a few makers a got lots of tips. I tried to get back to the basics to improve and refine some aspects- particularly the button area. These are all in the .15" rang...
