Re: Rustication with contrast & Ring on the bone.

Thank you guys, If by any chance you guys are wondering if I stick the inlays straight on the shank. Here is a schema with what I do. Always there is a plug on the shank on which the inlays are attached to. As I don't like to see the shank coming out through the external inlay, I don't drill complet...

Rustication with contrast & Ring on the bone.

Hey guys, Back to work after little time off  I read somewhere, in a blog perhaps, that rusticated pipes destroy the wood grain... On these two, stain and rustication made up a nice combination I guess. T oasted http://mrhydepipes.com/gallery/79_Toasted/daskunstportal.jpg C hin http://mrhydepi...

Re: Congrats to Eder And Lubov

Thank you all! And specially David! We were among eleven people only during the wedding celebration. But we got people from Brazil, Latvia, Russia, Germany, Italy, United States and France. The problem was to fulfill the drinking desires of everyone  I used to know a bricklayer named Lubov who ...

Hi guys,

Let me know what you think about this one ;)

extra pics...

It was my first try on tea and vinegar mix for contrast.
I guess for the next one I'll be doing that plus some other weird things I usually do.

Re: Evolution of a shape • Omut

Thank you guys, I'm a bit nervous to see the things going forward. I'm extremely patient with the work I do, but I can't wait to get better, more mature. I know it's all a matter of time, analysis and adjustment. I wished I could go from A to C without passing by B. The time to stop and to rethink.....

Re: Evolution of a shape • Omut

Thank you guys, My finishing has changed pretty a lot since that pipe #13. I've bounced from very complex finishings to simple ones and recently I found my own way. Actually it's "my own shared way" since the breakthrough came from a friend; and it turned out to be not only a great idea! E...

Evolution of a shape • Omut

Hey all. Here is a little history of a shape I've called Omut. A bit more than two years have passed since my very first pipe... Crafting takes time, rethinking and practice! eder. Re: A Few new things

Thank you guys,
I guess I've been improving last months... defining my messed up style,
improving my own way of finishing, learning up with new machinery,
setting some targets for this year and for the long view too.
From now on, only good things to come ;)

A Few new things

Hi guys, I've been working hard to carry a good set of pipes with me to Lohmar pipeshow. These three I finished more recently. Different here... It's the first time I work with bone ( Leaf pipe) and I've decided to use cork as stem inlay on the Resolver pipe too. The cork inlay looks nice, but if yo...

But what is that whiteish stuff in the tenon?
It's a very small stinger: 2mm long... it's removable for any case.

Re: Lathe • Saw attachment

Well, I already tried the regular parting tool I have but, as you guys already told, it damages the internal part besides wasting a lot of wood. My cheese slicer is not the most amazing thing ever but I managed to cut 1mm rings just as I would like to. Thanks Kurt for the links. I'll look forward to...

Lathe • Saw attachment

Hello guys, I was a bit frustrate with time and wood I was wasting to make very thin rings for shank or stem inlays. Usually my pipes have two or three 1.2mm to 1.5mm inlays and I have to cut pieces of 5mm each (best case) and sand them down till the right thickness. Today I've decided to make a lit...
