Re: First pipe, tried to make some revisions! Fixed photos!

Taking the criticisms well. Yeah, this was more of a.... let me see what I can actually do. I know now from making this through its different steps where and how I went wrong. I would say its been an okay leasing experience! I did actually smooth out the bowl definition and sand/Polish it. I think I...

Re: First pipe, tried to make some revisions! Fixed photos!

The whole stem is a cheap plastic.... this was a kit. I want to go to my local shop to get a new one and fit it to the pipe. That being said, my finishing definitely needs work. How is the overall shape of the bowl as compared to before? I guess I'm looking to see where I am fundamentally wrong so t...

Does anybody make pre drilled blocks to sell?

As the title says, I would love to buy a pre drilled block.... or three, from somebody on here. I have made two pipes. One from briar and one from pear as a bit of an experiment. I really want something with a straight stem Because I want to make a poker, along with another bent apple or something. ...

First pipe, tried to make some revisions! Fixed photos!

I will include a picture of how the pipe looked in my first post. I had another block of softer wood, so I made one from that. Came out much better than this one did originally, so I tried to "correct" this one a bit. It is my first one and regardless of what I have in the future, it will ...

Re: Rustication technique - new guy experimenting

Thanks guys. I get some more digging and it looks like one of the most popular mistakes is exactly what I did. Which was not going far enough! Sandhal-your apples are awesome! I'm really into your style. Mightysmurf - I have plenty of those, so I will have to try that out. Also, I really like the po...

Rustication technique - new guy experimenting

(If this post would get more critique in the image gallery, please let me know, or could a moderator move it? ) The better looking of the two was my first pipe and currently my only. The ugly duckling in the picture was a second block that I had. I wanted to try a few things (expecting to ruin somet...

Re: My first pipe! Please critique

Haha, I apologize. I tried to use an image host and the pictures are definitely smaller than they should be. On my end of things you can click each picture and it will give you an enlarged view.

Re: My first pipe! Please critique

Thank you for the kind words. I did add a different picture for the top view that is more perpendicular to the opening of the bowl, the last one was at an odd angle that made it look MORE egg shaped than it already is. So I need to get a more uniform circular shape where the bowl meets the shank? Th...

My first pipe! Please critique

I stuck to a fairly simple design, please critique away. I can see some issues in symmetry between the "front and back" of the bowl when viewed from the side, and I think I may need to work on defining the bowl shape in general some more. I plan on making another like this to see if I can ...

Iantkoelle - another new guy

Hi guys, my name is Ian. I'm 25 and own/manage a small high end oriented body shop in Tampa. I just got into pipe making/smoking due to my constant need to have a little project. I did make a post in the gallery thread, so most of this information is in there. I am always messing with something and ...
