Re: Scarface...
I love the pipe shape and the detailed cuts! I do not like the color of the stem. IMO it cheapens the elegant look. I'd thiink it'd be better with a black stem with maybe a few chisled cuts on it that go with the theme of the stummel. Thats a great pipe though.

Re: What's this tool?
I boughtt PIMO's tenon cutting tool for around 40 bucks. It pops onto the end of a drill and works nice. It looks very similar to the Tim West tool.

With a name like Turner, it fits you well!
That's a beaut. Did it come in other colors?
Price? Shipping?

The Peterson timeline for dating is linked below. It is a helpful resource for approximating the age of your pipe by its Stamps and Logo. Good Luck!

best files for pipemaking
What are the best files for pipemaking? (this includes files for stummel work and stem work) In the past I have purchased some other tools for LeeVally and their Gransfor tools. Great stuff. I do not want cheap files that break in half or dull after one use. (ala "WallyWorld or "made in ch...

Re: Best pre-made stems
I bought a military vulcanite for PE. It was very thin lowgrade vulcanite and it felt almost like soft plastic. It also had the molded seams which I had to sand and polish off. Are PE's acrylics stems the same way? I also got a similar stem from a briar kit purchase from one of the well known carver...

Best pre-made stems
In regards to acrylic and vulcanite who sells the best pre-made stems? and their pricing. I bought some in the past which IMO were very poor quality (especially the vulcanite).

I tend to enjoy the Virginia tobaccos (flakes especially) in smaller bowls. But yes, I "sip" rather than puff.

good tip Kurt. thanks!
I tend to like a lot of the older machinery. Most of it was bulkier, better made and made to last.

Thanks for that Tyler and a second kudos to Kurt for helping this forum be a nice place of information. I read some tips from here and then I bought the coveted PIMO book. Instead of investing in any real "pipetools" I ordered two pipekits (already drilled) and went at it. My tools? one co...

It first was going to take his hand and arm off but he had the sense to let go. Too bad his foot was still there though. If that kid didn't have the reaction to flop his body over the lathe and follow the revolving arc it would have easily pulled his leg off at the hip. It woul have made a distincti...
