Re: Pencil shanked
Very nice, but looks way too fragile for the way I mistreat my poor pipes. Is there some strategically placed steel tubing in there? yes, here is a steel tube into the mortise to avoid breaking the shank with a classic tenon. The use of a metal tube is not new. Many pipers use this technique, like ...

Re: Pencil shanked
I like the bowl shape quite a bit. What jumps out to me is the bowl/shank junction on the top (since there is no top or bottom pic I am assuming it is the same all the way around). As your shank gets smaller so must the tools that you use to create the transition. As it is now there is still too mu...

You're right, the button must be taller and thicker.scotties22 wrote: Then making your button a little taller and thicker (front to back) should help with your stem looking too thick through the bite zone.
I always tend to do too thin, because I like it personally

Re: dublin/zulu sandblasted
Thank you for your comments ! I like the bowl shape quite a bit. Your shank pinches towards the middle. It may be an optical illusion, but it looks a bit odd. I removed the picture of the stem/shank junction because I have modified this part because I found too thick (and this photo was taken before...

Re: The French
These machines work fine and are indeed very ingenious. I use several for many operations. Drill chambers, shanks and stems, adjust the tenons, stems ans shanks, etc etc... With the good tools, these machines can do many things. this one in blue has more than hundred years (and 275 lbs) and it works...

Hello I'll submit this pipe for critique . I work a lot on sanding for a month, I tested several abrasives and techniques. After many tests (and failures), this starts to please me. What do you think ? Bruno https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/12796661/fdp/IMG_6556.jpg https://dl.dropboxusercontent....
Re: chimney
Thank you Scottie and Charl.
The button is 1.4mm thick, I think the reflections of light give the impression that the button is too slim.
Unless if 1.4mm is indeed not enough thick of course
