Re: rustication question
I've been wondering the same thing about rustication and sand blasting.

Re: pipe 019 - critique me
Thank you Maddis. I see what you mean now and I wasn't saying you were wrong. It was just how I did the bottom that I'm not sure if your line would have worked with what material was left. If I were to re-do the shape, I would go back and try to match the front and back better. But it got me thinkin...

Re: pipe 017 - critique me
Thanks Tyler! I wasn't so much using it as an excuse as much I was just painting the mindset of a new maker. When I saw the block I just thought damn....but I'll make the best I can of it. You are right though! No argument here. I was wondering when you'd pop up Sasquatch. So what you're saying is w...

http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z6/sykofiddle/018af794-b2af-4030-a4fd-1ee6339c5cc3_zpsy0uyrggg.jpg I was discussing this with Maddis on the PSF. This is what he had suggested. I agreed with him though because of the flat bottom I had thought perhaps go about halfway of the new shank line he drew...

Re: pipe 017 - critique me
Ron I think I see what you mean with the stem. Almost like it just ever so slightly flares out a bit from the shank.

Re: pipe 017 - critique me
Thanks guys for the feedback! Tyler, to be honest I am not quite sure. The block itself was oddly shaped and all the shaping was done freehand. Once I liked how it looked from the side I left it, but perhaps I should have tried to make it round. All things aside I really had no other reason, I just ...
Re: Pipe 020
Thank you. I did notice those scratches too, I think I'll go back and try and get them out. I used to sand to 220 and stain after each grit, but then I started just sanding right up to 600 and start staining. I find I get better results with the previous method so I think I will go back to that for ...
Re: Pipe 020
Oh I forgot to put critique me in the title...please don't hold back. I made sure to stock up on band-aids and kleenex hahah
Pipe 020
A different take on what I was doing with pipe 018. The facing on the shank and accent didn't turn out well so I listed this as a shop seconds...I also wasn't happy with how I shaped the shank. Ah well...the posting is done. Now to await the inevitable. https://scontent-lga.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpa1...

pipe 019 - critique me
This pipe was requested by a previous customer. He really didn't leave me much detail on what he wanted. More or less said I want a devil's anse, keep me updated. If I could go back and change this, I would change the ash accent, make it smaller and the stem longer. Also the line where the shank mee...

pipe 017 - critique me
So I'm new to this forum...and I've been making pipes here and there since last summer. Started selling them in November to help with expenses as I learn, and now after lots of similar advice, I'm finally coming here to receive some constructive criticism. Basically, if I want to get any better I am...
