Pencil Shank Poker
I just finished this one up. Pencil shape poker with Bethlehem Olive and a hand cut cumberland stem. Also, this is my first hand cut stem. Haven't weighed it yet, but based off of my other featherweight pipes, I don't believe it can be any more than 20 grams. This pipe wasn't planned out, it just ki...

Re: Lathe Question
I would recommend the PSI Barracuda 2, it's a good first chuck because it comes with all the different jaws which will come in handy doing stem work, drilling delrin, etc. http://www.pennstateind.com/store/CSC3000C.html Then get some of Steve's jaws for it. http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p22/red...

Re: Jaws For Holding Briar in Your Chuck!
I got a set of jaws from Steve for my Barracuda 2 chuck. They work great, I highly recommend them. Thanks again Steve! http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p22/redlinecustoms/20141208_202037.jpg http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p22/redlinecustoms/20141208_202031.jpg http://i124.photobucket.com/album...

Re: Wood Lathe tooling advice
Wayne, I'm glad you mentioned that. I've seen the ones with the indexable carbide inserts and thought those would be the way to go. I'll pick up a couple of those as I go, starting with the square one. Thanks

Wood Lathe tooling advice
So I got a midi lathe and I have a question about tooling. I've got some experience on metal lathes and some on wood lathes but none of that is pipe related. I've got a barracuda 2 self centering 4 jaw chuck on the way. I've also got a drill chuck for my tailstock as well as some pen jaws that I pla...

Re: Jaws For Holding Briar in Your Chuck!
Did you ever determine if these will fit the PSI Barracuda 2? Thanks

Re: First submission for your consideration
First off I think the pipe looks pretty good. I'm very new to pipe making myself so I'll point out the first thing that jumped out at me, which will be easy to address in the future. The stem looks to be bent in one spot rather than over a larger area. This can be remedied by find something that has...

Re: First pipe & first post.
Thanks for the compliments and critiques. I had a lot of fun making this pipe. As long as it continues to be therapeutic I'll keep at it. My favorite look on this pipe was right before I did the final stain so I went back and changed it up. I like this much better. http://i124.photobucket.com/albums...

First pipe & first post.
Well, here goes. My name is Tu Combs. JMG is a very good friend of mine, brother would be a more fitting word. He introduced me to the pipe world almost 5 years ago and I've been kind of itching to try my hand at making a pipe since he returned to the states. He had a reject block with a lot of flaw...
