Peterson Style Spigot Parts
I love the Peterson spigots (with sterling on both the shank and the stem), like in the pic below. Is anyone aware of a supply house that sells the components needed to implement such a spigot? I would like to make a cutty with a spigot like that. http://pipesmagazine.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/file...

Re: Selecting a block?
Baiguai, There are two kinds of ebauchon. One kind is for straight and the other for bent pipes. Tell the briar seller you want to make a bent pipe and they'll know what kind of block you need. There's a technical designation for each but I can't keep them straight. If your block is large enough, y...

Re: Selecting a block?
Not sure if my question warrents a new thread (if so let me know), so I'll pose it here since it pertains to the question at hand. I've been practicing on cherry bowl blanks etc, and haven't yet worked with briar blocks. Nearly all the shapes I like have the shank positioned up from the bottom of t...

Re: Pointed Cutty "MacReedy"
I had in mind which is the source du Clay Pipe. http://i745.photobucket.com/albums/xx91/ed_in_kent/ClayPipe_zps33a5dcf9.jpg As for the other issue, is absolutely priceless sight, and pipe it is made entirely by hand. Best regards. Félix I think he means the line on the stem. It is wavy because th...
Re: Odd shape
That is really cool! Might be sweet to keep the top flat and glossy smooth, then round the bottom, and go to a point and rusticate the bottom leaving all the top smooth. That's what I'd probably try with a shape like that.
Can't wait to see it finished!

Standing Poker / Cherrywood - First Rustication Attempt
I'm a pipe making noob still - I've made a couple pipes from cherrywood blocks and for personal use they are great, look ok and smoke real well. My biggest challenges are in drilling (I am using only a hand drill, hand files and sandpaper until I get more tools), alignment and angles etc. I also nee...

Re: Thickness of bowl?
I'm a newbie at pipe making and haven't worked with brier yet (I've been working with Cherrywood as a learning material due to cost), but if it were me (referring to the original pipe you showed in this post) - even though it would be good for practice - I'd end up tossing it... and probably having ...

weatherproofing - salty air
I have very few tools so I've been working with cherry wood dowels and hand sanding and buffing. I would like to weatherproof my pipe since I strive to spend as much time as possible at the ocean. Would a wax do the trick? and can this be applied by hand? I would like to keep the finish somewhat mat...

Re: Handmade Solid Brass and Stainless Tampers
You say you're selling these? I'd love a brass version of the torpedo shaped one w/ the double lines at the top and bottom of it. Does that one also have a reamer/poker within it - like your latest one does?

Pipe Shape Question
I am VERY green to pipe making (so far just made a couple pipes using cherry wood dowels - kind of like the $5-10 meerschaum cherry woods). I've been making them in a similar shape to fantasy pipes I've seen described as Dwarven pipes etc. But I was wondering if there is a generally recognized shape...
