Re: Brew day!

There are some fancy ways to add O2 to your wort but our method is to use a small exercise ball that is filled with sand. Less than 15 bucks at your local big box store. Set the carboy on top of that and shake/rock it vigorously. We will usually shake for two minutes or more. The exercise ball has s...

Re: Brew day!

Brewed a batch yesterday. We hit our targets and hoping it will be a good one. American IPA with cascade and nugget. Sure tasted good out of the pot.

Re: Brew day!

Found a pic of the new pot and CFC. That CFC cut our cool down to next to nothing. We can transfer boiling wort from the pot to the carboy at 75 degrees F My faucet water was so cold yesterday that I pumped full blast from my kettle and it left my plate chiller at 60 degrees. That is a great benefi...

Re: Brew day!

http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/03/10/ynahusus.jpg this is an older picture of our rig. We've since added a 20 gal pot and a home built CFC. I use 5 gal corney kegs and the freezer in the back is our keezer. It will hold 6 kegs and the CO2 tank. There is also a 100lb tank we use instead of the 20lb ta...

I was hoping to hear from you LittleBill as I love the work that you are doing with your bowls and other pieces of turned art.

Thank you. We will put this on the "Nope List".

Re: Working on my stains and playing with shellac.

Maybe I applied it too thickly? I held the pipe and spray can of shellac about one to two feet away and tried to get an even light coat on the pipe. Then I used a clean cloth to wipe any excess away. This is where I noticed a lot of dye coming off the pipe onto the cloth.

Working on my stains and playing with shellac.

So I am playing with staining and creating a great contrast stain. I am using the leather dye method and started with medium brown at the 400 grit stage. Sanded again with 400 then applied a red/orange stain that I mixed up. Then I applied a diluted version of the red/orange and sanded 600. After al...

Frustratingly, I still have issues with my face.... :P I did all of my sanding and shaping with the stem attached and I had a very smooth fit. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/02/26/ery2y7ym.jpg But after finishing it obviously went south on me a little bit. I am pretty sure that during the finishing pr...
