Meerschaum experience anyone?

Does anyone have any experience with adhesives and meerschaum? Any recommendations on glues/epoxies? Or should this just be avoided?

Re: Pipe no. 7

*WRT MOC -I do have a lot of prefab vulcanite stems -but I'm not fond of the feel of them ...and I don't think they would have worked any better on this pipe anyway.

Re: Pipe no. 7

Thanks for the comments. I agree, the foot is a bit thick... I was worried about snapping it off during the rustication stage. I probably could have gone quite a bit thinner and still would have been safe. I have to disagree with JMG on wether on not it should be on there though, IMO it's not a cutt...

Re: No. 03

Thanks for the comments. It sounds like there is a consensus on the bend in the stem! Evan: is the blotchy staining from poor sanding, from how I'm applying the stain, or ...? Leaving the plateau on (I knew I'd hear about that) was due to a very deep slot shaped crevice in the plateau. If I took the...

No. 03

My third pipe. I was aiming for a "horn", and the plan is to make a few more. Any helpful suggestions on what's wrong with this one, and what I should focus on for the next ones would be helpful.

Re: Pipe #0000...002

That pipe has the potential to be pretty damn neat ! *had! -Mighty: Thanks. I am taking the advice that I was given. I've got a handful of blocks that I am going to dedicate to a traditional (albeit less common) shape. Hopefully I get some good experience and guidance through those. After that I'll...

Re: Pipe #0000...002

Sanding, I get is part of the process. Sandin 1000 pipes for the rest of my life is fine, I don't have an issue that. Sanding my second pipe for the rest of my life is where the issue is! 49 right-angle inside corners. Some of which in successive 1/16" steps in spots that were tricky to get at ...

Re: Результат 2013 года.

Those are great. The last one is my favorite.

I'm new at pipe making so don't put too much weight in this, but something in the bowl of the second pipe seems a bit off to me. I love the stem and shank on it though.

Keep up the good work!

Re: Pipe #0000...002

Yeti, I certainly don't think you're being too rough! You have a lot of good points. The link you provided is excellent! I think I am going to spend quite a bit of time studying this guy's stuff. As far as the overall shape ...it did have a lot more flow to it -but the dremel got away from me a few ...

Pipe #0000...002

I learned with posting my first pipe that a proper critique would require something to measure by. This pipe was nearly done when I got that advice and I don't think it falls into any "classic" categories, so a critique is not requested, however any comments are welcome. But for those that...

Re: Another newbie, another 1st pipe.

I certainly appreciate the compliment; but I hope you recognize that you, along with the other contributors to this forum, ultimately deserve the credit. I would have given up shortly after the box of briar arrived without the help. I am a designer. I design tank and vessel internals for the oil and...

Exactly what he said. ...well, except the "Brian" part.

Are you using a lathe?

p.s. your English is just fine!

Re: First Pipe

I'm at the same stage you are, but here's my 2 cents:

You don't need to practice with maple, I don't see any reason for you to not work with briar. If anything: it'll motivate you, and you'll have a good pipe to smoke while you work on the next one.

It's a great first pipe, don't fear the briar!
