Re: 2009-2010 Pipe In The Hat trade
OK - I've been holding back on this until I could actually smoke it. . . I received pennsyscot's pipe last week and it's been setting on my desk since then waiting for it's maiden smoke. She smokes great. Fit and finish are great. The button is nice & thin, but wider than I've ever had. Once I g...

If your tire is smooth on both sides, you might try turning it inside out to see if you can extend the life.

Re: small motors
You can calculate the HP, but you have to be able to measure some other stuff to do it. HP = (V x A x Eff)/746 V=Volts A=current (Amps) Eff=efficiency For quick calculation purposes, assume that most electric motors have an efficiency of 70% (.70). So a motor on 110V, drawing 10 Amps would have a ra...

Re: Drilling a bent and using a derlin tenon
Also has anyone inserted a derlin/acrylic/briar dowl into the draught hole to fill it in, then drill out the mortise? If yer gonna do that, I assume that you can: 1. Fixture the stummel so as to accurately drill the mortise oversize for the sleeve and keep it perpendicular to the face of the shank....

I wasn't insulted, and hope that tossing the acronym around doesn't bother anyone. Its just such a fun thing to play with: the DHMP police and all. I mean, I can just envision Kent Rassmusen and Lars Ivarsson busting down Walle's door and taking him away in handcuffs. Hehehehehe! Better the Danes t...

Mike - Uh. . .Rad was addressing his friend Walle. He didn't say anything to or about you. This is the third time in the last few days that you've felt slighted by conversations that had nothing to do with you. Next time you think someone is taking a poke at you, I suggest that you re-read the post ...

Billiards are hard. There are some things about your's that are "off". I suggest studying the Dunhill billiards at smokingpipes.com (like this one) and copying them.

what about a 3D printer that can carve ABS It doesn't carve. It builds up hot ABS material layer by layer. ABS has been explored by some here as a suitable stem material. I'm not sure how the "3D printer" ABS holds up as a stem material. 'Zactly. It's called an "additive" proces...

Re: Blog Update: Is this pipe ugly?
. . .I have read comments in the past along the lines of "well, that's pipemaker-x, he can do that and get away with it". . . We've all heard observers of folk art or some of Warhols work say "That's art? My kid could do that." I have an idea that Todd could stick a cumberland s...

Re: Connecting an air compressor
I'm currently working with UCSD researchers who are developing a way to transmit compressed air without piping or tubing. I have a transmission box attached to globe valve on my compressor, and a receiving box on my cabinet that restores the transmitted waves to compressed air form. In one machine ...

It may go without saying, but I'll say it anyway. Leave the stem in place during buffing too.

Why did you feel the need to mention bud?
Nobody said anything about bud.
This thing is for tobacco.
Just because you hear The Grateful Dead in your head when you look at it doesn't mean it's for bud.

As long as you freeze the pipe before using it (thereby reducing the rubberiness) it should work fine.

Thanks for the props on the pipe & site guys. The website still needs a lot of tweaking before it goes live (you fellas are the first I've shared it with).
Chris, I've only been around pipes a few years, but the grain on that nosewarmer is the tightest I've ever seen.

It's important to note that Kurt did not use the MM term in relation to your blog exercise. I am the one who co-opted it. It also important for you to know that I do indeed understand about our different circles and your intended audience. I was simply shouting out from my circle to yours. . . .Can ...
