Re: Stainless tenon question

I don't know what to advise about running stainless the entire length of the shank, but a reverse tenon for the stem is perfectly acceptable. I use a reverse tenon on bamboo shanks.

Re: Probably going to show my ignorance with this question..

I posted the same question on another forum and was told that the shape was named after Lord Lovat of WWI fame and in a subsequent video link listened to multiple people pronounce it as LOVE-et. Learn something new everyday. English language pronunciations by English people shouldn't be relied upon...

Re: most smoked shop pipes

Chris used the word "mute" when he meant "moot". This just fucks everything up in this whole thread.

Hope this helps.

Re: Acrylic Stems

Pay no attention to Bruce. He is a smartypants. You have to be careful bending acrylic, because it cools differently than vulcanite. Vulcanite will slowly get less and less flexible as it cools, while acrylic will be flexible and then suddenly, it's not. This can result in your snapping the stem if ...

If it makes you feel better Tyler just remember that since I am British I look down on you all in a paternalistic and condescending manner. My favorite quote by Alan Rickman: “Why don't I like you?" "Because you think I'm an asshole, and I'm not really, I'm just British and, well, you're ...

Re: wood worm holes in Briar received

I once had some sort of bug go into a drilled mortise on a block that I wasn't going to use and deposit its little baby and seal the whole thing up with sawdust. I opened it up and found a little green worm living in there. I smushed it. Was that wrong!? :) I've found the worm holes you describe eve...

Re: KC Show Pipe Making Supplies @smokershaven

What if you make a stencil/guide out of a piece of plexi glass, lay it on the sand paper and then trim it out with a razor knife? or would that still be too much work/time and not worth it? I don't know what Jeff's sandpaper costs, but that looks very cool, and I'd much rather buy than make. :) Rad...
